MORNING
AFTERNOON

After arriving into Paro International Airport you will be met by our local representatives. En route to Thimpu, you will visit one of the oldest villages in the valley to experience first hand the Bhutanese traditional way of life. Arrive at the hotel and check in at the hotel. After lunch, you visit the National Memorial Chorten — built in 1974 to honour the father of modern Bhutan and the Changankha Lhakhang, an old fortress like temple and monastic school perched on a ridge above Thimpu.

NIGHT

Enjoy a Welcome Networking Dinner this evening where you will have the opportunity to meet other participants and their partners as well as your Amaco hosts.

MORNING

Conference 1 & 2 will take place this morning.

AFTERNOON

After lunch, you will visit Tashicho Dzong — the seat of government and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Return to the hotel for the remaining afternoon at leisure.

NIGHT

Dinner this evening is at the hotel.

MON

Paro / Punakha

MORNING

This morning you will visit the sites surrounding Thimpu, the National Library of Bhutan, the Folk Heritage Museum, the Royal Goldsmith Workshop and the National Institute of Traditional Medicine. You continue on the East West Road towards Punakha and take a stop at Dochula Pass — created by the Queen Mother in honour of 108 Bhutanese soldiers who died in a 2003 military operation.

AFTERNOON

You will enjoy a lunch with panoramic views before continuing the drive to Punakha. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure.

Punakha

MORNING

After breakfast, you will take a one hour hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a fine example of Bhutanese architecture and artistic traditions. The moderately inclined trail is surrounded by pine trees and offers stunning views of the Punakha Valley. Return to the hotel for lunch.

AFTERNOON

In the afternoon visit, Chimi Lhakhang flanked with hundreds of prayer flags sitting on a round hillock near  Punakha. Women visit the monastery on pilgrimages seeking blessings to produce children. You will continue on and visit the majestic Punakha Dzong — a six story structure with a scenic mountainous backdrop. You will head back to the hotel in time to freshen up for Dinner.

MORNING

After breakfast, we drive back to Paro with a stop to visit Simtokha Dzong. Standing on a lofty ridge, this Dzong houses the Dzongkha Language and Religious University.

AFTERNOON

Arrive in Paro in time for lunch. Conference Session 3 & 4 will take place this afternoon.

NIGHT

After the conference, an evening blessing ceremony will take place at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest religious sites in Bhutan. You will be offered Bhutanese tea and butter sweetened rice to be served with the monks. Transfer back to your hotel for dinner.

MORNING

An early morning start for the hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This impressive site is the unofficial symbol of Bhutan. The hike begins with an hour and a half up to a small wooden teahouse. Horses are available to this point for participants who prefer this.

AFTERNOON

You enjoy a well earned rest and close view of the monastery during lunch. If you wish to continue on there is a further one and half hour uphill hike to the Takstang Monastery. Late in the afternoon get a first hand experience at Bhutan’s National Game and obsession. Try your hand at archery and Khuru (a local dart game).

MORNING

Conference Session 5 & 6 will take place this morning followed by Lunch.

AFTERNOON

After lunch, you visit Rimpung Dzong — literally meaning “Heap of Jewels”, situated across the river with a commanding view of Paro. You continue with a visit to the National Museum of Bhutan with its unique circular building, followed by Drukgyel Dzong one of the kingdom’s oldest and most sacred temple. Head back to the hotel to freshen up and prepare for our special Farewell Dinner.
